Welcome to Riverside Elementary! Whether you're a returning family or joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to have you as part of the Chief family!

I'm Melissa Wolfe, and I'm proud to serve as the principal here at RES. I was formerly a 3rd grade teacher here when we were North Myrtle Beach Elementary and then also taught 5th grade when we transitioned to Riverside. After teaching, I became the instructional coach, lead interventionist, and then assistant principal at Socastee Elementary. When I found out that Mrs. Underwood was retiring a few years ago, I was hopeful that I would be able to return to the North Myrtle Beach cluster. I was blessed to be announced as principal of Riverside Elementary at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year and will continue to support and advocate for our Chief community for many years to come. I love our school, and I feel extremely blessed to get to serve the students, teachers, staff, and families of RES!

Riverside Elementary is made up of approximately 740 Child Development through 5th grade students. Our mission is to foster a community where everyone feels loved, respected, and encouraged in order to develop to their full potential. We believe that every child should feel safe at school and should have their learning protected. We strive to prepare all students to be on or above grade level when they leave our school. We are not just teaching elementary students– we are educating future business owners, doctors, teachers, mechanics, engineers, and more!

This year, our three areas of focus are:

targeted, differentiated instruction through intentional small groups
accountability for all
being good humans

Our faculty and staff are excited to watch the children learn and grow academically, socially and emotionally during their time here at RES.

We know that student success is best achieved through strong partnerships between home, school, and the community. We invite you to stay connected through our weekly electronic newsletter, participating in family nights, volunteering for events such as our PBIS celebration days, and joining our PTO. Your voice matters, and we’re here to work together to ensure every student thrives!
